History of the Centre for Education and Counselling at UM FOV

The origins of the Centre for Education date back to 1968, when the Centre for Functional Education of Managers and Executives was formed within the Higher School of Work Organisation, which already that year had developed a comprehensive programme of seminars for various work organisations and was the basis for today's Centre for Education and Consultancy. In addition to its core tasks of functional training and consultancy, the Centre also provided conference activities in the form of various consultations and conferences.

The main purpose of the Centre was to put into practice the findings of the research work by means of organisational consultancy and functional education, as well as to collect, systematise and exchange experience in organisational and educational work.

In the 1970s and early 1980s, the work of the Centre for Functional Education and Consultancy expanded considerably. It began to organise a large number of seminars and workshops for various technical and organisational staff. Central seminars were organised on the basis of calls for tenders and seminars commissioned by individual organisations, which were attended by a large number of participants.

Today, the Training and Consultancy Centre still carries out all three core functions of the original Functional Training and Consultancy Centre, namely consultancy, organising functional seminars and organising consultations and conferences.

The history of conference activities at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences dates back to 1967, when the then Higher School of Work Organization organized the Yugoslav Symposium on Responsibility in Work Organizations. The symposium was well attended, with 600 participants from all Yugoslav republics.
