At the University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, the internship is part of the compulsory study programme for students in the third year of the higher professional programme, while it is optional for students in the bachelor's and master's programmes.
Professional practice offers the student an introduction to the real environment and the application of professional knowledge, skills and abilities in the work environment where he/she is doing his/her practice. Students must complete a professional placement of 600 hours (20 ECTS) and part (120 hours) of this professional placement consists of practical work in a company or institution.

GUIDANCE FOR PROFESSIONAL INTERNSHIP:
PROFESSIONAL INTERNSHIP - VS - COMPULSORY
When undertaking professional internship, students of VS study programmes should follow the Guidelines on the implementation of professional practice at UM FOV for VS students.
Professional internship offers the student to get acquainted with the real environment and to apply professional knowledge, skills and abilities in the work environment where he/she is doing the practice. In the third year of higher professional programmes, the internship is compulsory, while in the third year of university and master's programmes, the internship is voluntary or optional for students.
In accordance with the curriculum, the student carries out a professional practice of 600 hours (20 ECTS) and a part (120 hours) of this professional practice consists of practical work in a company or institution, which the student can arrange on his/her own or contact the Career Centre of the Faculty for assistance.
Brief instructions for students on how to undertake a traineeship
The student chooses the topic in agreement with the selected tutor (course leader) at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences.
The student submits the completed Internship Application Form to the selected mentor at the Faculty for signature.
Full-time students and part-time students must also arrange a tripartite contract (student-faculty-selected organisation) before starting their internship in a company. Students should contact the Faculty Career Centre to arrange this.
The student completes the internship in the company (120 hours). The company provides the student with a certificate of internship in the organisation.
The problems that the students work on must come from a real-life environment. The final report must be written in accordance with the Guidelines for the Final Report.
Together with the final report and the pre-approved forms, the student submits the completed application form for the examination to the selected FOV mentor.
The FOV mentor will review the report, mark it pass/fail.
