The Faculty of Organisational Sciences of the University of Maribor is a holder of the certificate "Athlete-friendly education", awarded by the Olympic Committee of Slovenia - Association of Sports Federations (OKS-ZŠZ) to encourage activities in the field of dual career of athletes.
Dual careers for athletes are extremely important at the level of students and athletes, hand in hand for lifelong learning, the realisation of goals in sport and also the desired career path after the end of an active sporting career. Top athletes invest most of their time and energy in training and competitions, and are therefore often absent from the teaching process. Too often, top athletes face difficulties in building a career outside sport at the end of their sporting career, as many lack the necessary education and experience. It is therefore important that they receive their education while they are still competing in sport.
For our faculty, obtaining the certificate is a confirmation that we provide athletes with various adaptations that can facilitate their education and help them to achieve the desired education despite their intense involvement in elite sport.
