STUDY CALENDAR 2023/2024
Application procedure for the examination
The application process for the examination is electronic via AIPS (https://aips.um.si/). The deadline for e-application is no later than 7 days before the exam date! It is the student's responsibility to ensure that they register for the exam correctly and completely. The instructor (professor or assistant) may only allow candidates on the list of registered candidates who meet the eligibility requirements set out in the syllabus for each unit of study to sit the examination.
Withdrawal procedure
Students may withdraw from the examination electronically at latest two days before the examination via AIPS.
A student who fails to appear for an examination for an excused reason or who withdraws from an examination on time may take the examination at the first subsequent scheduled examination date.
A student who, without a valid excuse, fails to appear for an examination on the date fixed for that examination, or fails to withdraw from an examination in time, may take the examination only in the second subsequent examination period.
If a student fails to sit an examination for an excusable reason and fails to withdraw in time, he/she shall be deemed to have withdrawn in time if he/she submits the relevant written evidence to the Student Affairs Office within 3 working days after the examination period. The Professional Service shall decide on the adequacy of the evidence within 3 days.
A student who has registered for an examination for which a fee is payable in accordance with the UM Price List shall not be required to pay for the examination if, on the basis of the evidence, it is established that he/she failed to appear for the examination for an excusable reason or withdrew from the examination on time, whereas a student referred to in the third paragraph shall be obliged to pay for the examination.
Traditional examination registration
Students shall register for the examination electronically or, in individual cases, in writing using a traditional registration form:
- grade increase (register at least seven days before the examination date. Write "for a higher mark" in the "type of examination" line),
- the last examination before graduation,
- professional practice or practical training.
Board examinations
The following examinations are held before an examination board:
- examinations at the written request of the student or the teacher,
- examinations with a view to increasing the mark; and
- every 4th and subsequent examination.
The Board of Examiners shall consist of a chairperson and two members appointed by the Dean on the proposal of the head of the department or division, or, where institutes are established, on the proposal of the head of the institute. The teacher or teacher of the specific teaching unit shall also be appointed to the Board.
The manner in which the board examination is to be conducted shall be as laid down in the syllabus of the particular unit of study.
Increase of grades
Before the end of the studies, students have the right to revise all the units they have already completed if they wish to increase their grade in a particular unit. An individual examination may be revised once, as a board examination. If the student achieves a lower mark in the revision, the original mark, i.e. the higher mark, shall apply.
