Marjan Senegačnik graduated from the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Faculty of Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana in 1986 with a thesis in biochemistry. In 1990 he obtained his Master's degree in the same department with a thesis in biophysical chemistry. In 1997, he received his PhD from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana, with a thesis entitled 'Intrinsic association of cholesterol and its interactions with proton acceptors in aprotic solvents. From 1986 to 1990 he worked as an assistant and then as a young researcher at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Ljubljana. From 1990 to 1993 he was employed as a young researcher at the Department of Physical and Environmental Chemistry at the Jožef Stefan Institute. Since 1996 he has been working at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Maribor.
